Detection, Extraction and Measurement of the Length of the Metacarpal Bones in Images

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to study the literature dealing with the topic of object (specifically bones) recognition in images. Another task is to summarize the existing solutions for detection and measurement of object's length and to design a suitable algorithm for detection and measurement of metacarpal bones in images. First proposed algorithm is based on edge detecting methods. However, this approach has proved unreliable. The second algorithm design is based on machine learning using the convolutional neural network Mask RCNN.

Cieľom tejto práce je detekovať a následne extrahovať kontúru tretej metakarpálnej kosti ľudskej ruky z röntgenových snímkov a zmerať jej šírku. Práca popisuje segmentáciu obrazu pomocou metód na detekciu objektov, ktoré sa následne využijú za účelom konečných meraní šírky kosti.

Author: Monika Dundrová Title: Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient After Subcapital Fracture of the Fifth Metacarpal Objectives: The aim of the theoretical part of this bachelor's thesis is an overview of the theoretical knowledge regarding the problematics of metacarpal fractures, the possibilities of their treatment and physiotherapeutic intervention. The practical part concerns case report of a patient with subcapital fracture of the fifth metacarpal. Methods: The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis deals with the functional anatomy of the hands and the general characteristics of fractures. It focuses on the topic of metacarpal fractures, their incidence, possible complications, prognosis, treatment and physiotherapeutic procedures. A substantial part is focused on the treatment of subcapital fractures of the fifth metacarpal. The special part consists of a case report of a patient with a diagnosis of the condition after subcapital fracture of the fifth metacarpal, which processing was performed using techniques, methods and knowledge gained during the study of physiotherapy.
